ESA Datalabs / SCIAPPS project concept datalab - Gaia

Introduction

This concept datalabs provides a way to extract 1d, 2d, and 3d information from the visual galactic (dust) extinction cube inferred through inversion from Gaia and 2MASS survey data.

In addition the tool shows the position of Gaia stars (from the Gaia eDR3 catalog) related to the `local' galactic dust distribution.

For details on the construction of the data cube see Lallement et al. 2019, A&A, 625, A135.

Concept datalab framework

For this concept datalab we use the Dash/plotly framework.

The root folder contains general information for the datalab:

  • LICENSE
  • README.md (this file)
  • datalab-meta.yml (used by ESA Datalabs to fill metadata terms automatically)

The source code for the datalab is in the folder datalab/
